Hire sander

Given the number of types sanders for hire, its important to select the correct sander for the job in question. Whilst hiring a sander takes the effort out having to use elbow grease and manually sanding with sandpaper,  you still need to follow some basic rules when both deciding what sander to hire and also how to use it correctly to achieve the correct results.

Different sanders have different motions when sanding and the 3 basic methods they use need to be considered when you rent a sander.

Points to note when you hire a Orbital Sander is that they  use the whole plate to move in small circular motions causing the wood grain to move in a similar fashion . Being the most common type of Sander for hire, the Orbital Sander is available in a number of different sizes using either a rectangular , round or square plate.  Being ideal for many DIY task, the Orbital Sander can be used prepping walls prior to painting or to assist with refinishing furniture. An advantage of using the orbital sander is that you don’t need to worry about which direction the wood grain is when using it.

Alternatively you can hire a Belt Sander which  use drive pulley systems to sand. These are usually up to 4 inches wide with different sander paper grain available it offers the flexibly of being used for a number of different tasks.. The belts usually travel in speeds of upwards of 1,300 ft per second and can make light work of sanding although , it’s harder to get a good finish as using an orbital sander. On the plus side though, you tend to be able to sand faster using a belt sander, than an orbital sander. One of the main points when using a belt sander is that  You need to make sure you sand with grain and not against it otherwise you are likely to get scuffs in the grain.

If you are looking to sand areas of floor space, then you need to hire a floor sander which uses a large rotating drum. These are ideal of sanding wooden floors and doing large areas such as sanding lounges, large hallways.  Drum sanders and normally in conjunction with a Floor edging sander as these are used for getting in to the tight areas where a drum sander cannot reach. Normally you can hire a floor edging sander as part of a package with a drum sander or on it own.
