Fume Extraction Systems

Unpleasant smells, fumes and vapours do not contribute to a good working environment – and they can pose a serious threat to the health of anyone using the workplace.
In welding workshops, for example, various potentially dangerous airborne gases may be present such as nitrous oxide (NOx), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), shielding gas (e.g. Argon, helium) and ozone (O3), which can cause ill health if inhaled. Equally, woodworking / workshop dust extraction is important because wood dust can also cause serious health problems – triggering asthma, for example, while hardwood dust can cause cancer.
Our range of air scrubbers, dust extraction systems and mobile fume extraction devices enable you to create a safer working environment by minimising the health risks associated with airborne fumes or dust.
Both hardwood and softwood dusts have a Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) of 5mg/m3, which must never be exceeded. These are limits placed on the amount of dust in the air on average over an eight-hour working day. However, employers must reduce exposure to wood dust to "as low as is ‘reasonably practicable' e.g. by using dust extraction systems. The Health and safety Executive also offers useful guidance for when extraction is necessary in welding workshops and other settings where fumes are generated.
Our range of air scrubbers, fume and dust extractors
Our range includes options that work in sensitive settings such as offices that contain IT equipment, educational establishments, and health facilities. You can hire systems specifically designed for wood dust extraction, or fume extraction fans that have many different applications – including use in welding workshops. Some systems even offer dual-purpose dust and fume extraction.
- Small or large fume extractors and welding fume extractors: These easy-to-use systems have a dual purpose – they can be used to remove dangerous fumes or airborne dust. In addition, the extractor can be used as a fresh air circulator.
- Air scrubbers: Using HEPA and carbon filters, this unit 'scrubs' the air – removing all particles over 3 microns in size (1 micron = 1 millionth of a metre). Suitable for use in domestic settings as well as in offices, retail units, leisure facilities and educational establishments, amongst other environments.
- Related fume and dust extractor accessories: such as ducting (in various types and sizes) and dust extractor hoses.
